It is on the gently sloping terraces bathed in light, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sainte-Baume massif, that Bandol AOC wines tell a story of passion, patience, and terroir. Here, from Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer to La Cadière d'Azur, via Le Castellet and Le Beausset, Mourvèdre reigns supreme as the king of grape varieties, supported by a unique climate and remarkable geology. At the heart of this exceptional vineyard, men and women work every day to bring to life one of the most prestigious appellations in the AOC valley. Meet Cédric Gravier, president of the Bandol Wine Association and a committed ambassador for wines that are deeply rooted in their territory.

The Bandol appellation, located in the south of Var, covers approximately 1,500 hectares spanning eight municipalities: Bandol, La Cadière-d'Azur, Le Castellet, Le Beausset, Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, Sanary-sur-Mer, Evenos, and Ollioules. Our region enjoys a privileged Mediterranean climate. Generous sunshine, hot and dry summers, but also a maritime influence that brings, fortunately, freshness and balance.

The distinctive feature of Bandol AOC wines is undoubtedly the dominant presence of the Mourvèdre grape variety mourvèdre. This grape, which accounts for more than 50% of the vineyards, is renowned for its slow ripening. And ultimately, after months spent in oak barrels, this variety produces powerful, structured, and elegant red wines that are capable of aging with great virtuosity.

That said, fruit is not the only ingredient in this nectar. Geology also plays a major role. The vineyard is planted on contrasting soils, composed mainly of limestone, marl, and sandstone, arranged in terraces typical of the Var region. The result is a happy marriage between grapes, soil, and winemaking expertise.

Today, more than sixty estates make up this appellation. Each brings its own signature and talent, while adhering to strict specifications that guarantee the quality and authenticity of Bandol AOC wines. Red, rosé, or white, regardless of their color, these wines tell a profound story, that of an exceptional terroir and ancestral know-how passed down from generation to generation...
