Imagine sitting comfortably in your seat, right next to the train window. As the train whizzes by, a horizon suddenly opens out over the sea, and time seems to stand still. Before you, the blue of the Mediterranean, the silhouette of the coastline, nothing else. This is exactly the landscape you'll see if you take the local TER train from Sanary-sur-mer to Saint-Cyr-sur-mer. And this lovely view is none other than the Bay of Bandol... In short, if you want to get around the coast, the train is an option you should definitely consider! Here's a summary of the stations and railroad lines in Provence Sud Sainte Baume.

Connected towns

The whole point of this page is to help you navigate our beloved destination. But it's not closed to the rest of the world. So, if you'd like to punctuate your stay with days outside our borders, the train is for you.

From the three Provence Sud Sainte Baume stations, you can also reach :

  • Marseille : A stroll along the Old Port, a panoramic view from the Bonne Mère, a visit to the MuCem or a tour of the mythical Panier district - it's all possible on foot from Marseille Saint-Charles station.
  • Aubagne : the land of santonniers, Marcel Pagnol's favorite town, in short, an immersion in Provence rhodanienne.
  • Cassis : a charming town set in the Parc National des Calanques. The town is characterized by alternating ascents and descents. That said, don't panic: shuttle buses run regularly to take you from the station to the town center, and even to the starting point for hikes to the calanques.
  • La Ciotat : between the sublime Parc du Mugel with its belvedere and pebbled coves; the old port in the town center with its cobbled streets and Provencal pointus; and its main avenue lined with sandy beaches, this is a must-visit commune.
  • Six-Fours-les-Plages: neighboring Sanary-sur-mer, this municipality is known for its long Bonnegrâce beach, its Le Brusc district and its Gaou peninsula. It's also the main departure point for one of Paul Ricard's two islands, Les Embiez.
  • La Seyne-sur-mer: A town of many hamlets, you'll love eating oysters at the Tamaris oyster huts, enjoying a festival at Parc de la Navale or strolling the aisles of the Sablettes night market.
  • Toulon Toulon: the biggest city in the area after Marseille, where TGV trains from all over France stop to visit the Var. Here, cultural exhibitions, gourmet markets and a large local market await you. Don't miss the cade, a culinary specialty beloved of the Var!
  • Hyères Hyères: the last stop on the TER line, this town blends the urban ambience of its avenues, the Provencal charm of its town center and the coastal pleasures of its Îles d'Or, Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant.

Good to know Even if the train station in some cities is not located in the city center, all is not lost! Most of them offer a shuttle service so you can visit their landmarks.
