A trumpet and accordion duet, an obvious choice if you've been lucky enough to hear their volutes fill a cathedral nave, as in Coutances, or whisper in a more intimate setting. Between Airelle Besson's trumpet and Lionel Suarez's reeds, the music unfolds as naturally as the flapping of wings. Forget who's accompanying whom, they're all on the same journey. Sometimes mid-voice, in confidence; often as close as possible to the melody, with a delicately formulated lyricism; always in osmosis, supporting and extending each other. The best part is that when one fades away, the other insinuates itself into the space more than it invades it, sketching out an expectation, underlining what connects the points of suspension.
