Christmas and New Year in Provence
In Provence Sud Sainte Baume, the end-of-year festivities are marked by traditions that go back thousands of years. While the Christmas markets of Bandol, Sanary, Evenos and Saint-Cyr light up and enliven the narrow streets of our villages, santons, nativity scenes and, of course, regional sweets bring back that touch of Provencal culture, so dear to the hearts of our inhabitants.
This is the case, for example, for the classic 13 desserts (pompe à l'huile, nougat, calisson, dried fruit...), an emblem of our region. Some towns, such as La Cadière and Le Beausset, have even turned them into exhibitions and fun workshops!
Provençal pastorals, on the other hand, are a delightful blend of song and Nativity scenes, enchanting young and old alike in Le Castellet and Signes. Finally, traditional nativity scenes, veritable works of art, come to life in village churches and squares.
These traditions make the festive season a magical time, with a mixture of "Christmas under the palm trees" on the coast and "festivities under the olive trees" in the hinterland. In all cases, sunshine, generosity and authenticity await you in every commune of our beautiful region!
