Coastal cycle route: 140 km from Sanary-sur-Mer to Montauroux

Seasonality
For 3 main reasons, it is preferable to:

- Cycle this route at the beginning or end of the season, to avoid the heat,
- To cycle this itinerary outside the summer vacation period, as the Var route follows the coast or very close to it, where tourist numbers are at their highest,
- Avoid the Fréjus < > Montauroux section, which uses DFCI roads (chemins de Défense des Forêts Contre l'Incendie) in the Massif de l'Esterel during periods of drought and high winds (mistral), as the DFCI roads may be closed to all traffic for these two reasons.
However, the cycle route can be used all year round, away from the hustle and bustle of the coast in summer and on a route that is not very busy in winter.
