Who was Honoré Estienne d'Orves?
Behind this name lies one of the noblest characters of the XXᵉ century. This man was one of France's first resistance fighters during the Second World War. He was one of those who stood up for our country's values and stood up to the enemy. Capitaine de Frégate Conte Honoré d'Estienne d'Orves ' courage led him to Mont Valérien, where he was shot on August 29, 1941.
A national war hero and local pride for the town of Evenos, to which he was closely linked, being Parisian by birth but from the Var region at heart. Even today, his family estate covers almost half the surface area of the village.
